Thousands of food lovers are expected to flock to Harborough’s Welland Park for a two day Food and Drink Festival on Sunday and Monday, August 30 and 31.
The event, organised by Market Place, aims to celebrate cuisine from the Harborough area, as well as regional, national and international food with stall ranging from artisan cheeses and meats to Malaysian street food and Caribbean seafood.
And for foodies wanting to pick up some tips, Masterchef finalist Tony Rodd and BBC’s Stephanie Moon will be showcasing their culinary skills in a demo kitchen.
The event is being sponsored by Harborough’s Angel Hotel.
Hotel general manager Darren Barton said, “We are delighted to support this exciting new food event. Harborough has so many great ‘must attend’ events and The Angel is happy to play an active part in this new town initiative.”
Market Place manager and event organiser Sairah Butt added: “It’s brilliant to have The Angel Hotel on board; they have been wonderfully generous. “This is an exciting new event for Harborough. We hope to get the whole community behind it and really bring the town to life for the bank holiday weekend.
“It’s free to attend, we have a wonderful line up of tempting food stalls, craft stalls, a great licensed bar, cider tent, live music, kids play area and of course the celebrity demo kitchen; it should be a cracking event.
“We also want to encourage people to visit the town once they’ve been to the festival. There is a charity truck pull on the Square, as well as the Antiques Market on the Sunday.”
