Youngsters at Tiddlywinks Pre-School in Tilton-on-the-Hill will get a healthier start thanks to a programme of activities staff learned during a visit by the Active Bean Club.

Active Bean Club (ABC) is a programme aimed at educating early years settings’ staff about the benefits of physical activity and ways in which to deliver it.

The programme encourages a holistic approach to physical activity and health which supports the idea of giving young people the best start in life.

Ellis Stretton, from ABC, said: “ABC is an eight week programme where an early years physical activity specialist will deliver, shadow and then observe staff to deliver activities which encourage greater and more purposeful activity levels.

“This is through the use of resource packs, equipment and using games and activities that can be adapted to incorporate more physical activity.”

“Tiddlywinks have taken all the information on board and have been proactive in including it in their daily routine, helping the children to embed a healthy physical activity habit. The children have become more confident, are more aware of what happens to their body during exercise and have started to play with the bag of equipment without adult interaction.”
