A person was rushed to hospital after being cut free from a car following a crash on the northern edge of Harborough today (Wednesday).

The injured casualty was taken to Leicester Royal Infirmary by ambulance after the two-car crash on the outskirts of Scraptoft this morning.

The accident happened on Beeby Road at about 10.30am.

Eight firefighters with two appliances from Leicester’s Eastern Station raced to the scene along with police.

The trapped casualty was cut free from their damaged car by fire crew before being taken to hospital as police put traffic control measures in place.
