The Carnival Glass Society is visiting the Three Swans Hotel for its annual weekend and will welcome visitors to its glass sales and presentation on Saturday, October 3, between 1.15 and 4.30pm.
This year’s programme includes a Carnival Glass Sales Market between 1.15pm and 3.15pm, where people can buy a range of glass and other carnivalesque items (handbags, jewellery and books).
Carnival Glass is the name given to iridised pressed glass that was made in the early 1900s through the Art Nouveau and Deco periods.
It comes in a range of difference base colours with an iridescent sheen that gives an ‘oil on water’ effect.
The market will be followed by Rebel In Glass: Art of Louis Comfort Tiffany – a presentation on Tiffany glass by Charles Hajdamach who is a leading authority on glass and a previous director of Broadfield House Glass Museum.
Entrance is by temporary membership at £3 per person which includes a past issue of the carnival glass society’s quarterly newsletter containing 40 pages of colour photographs and articles about the history of carnival glass, new finds and other topics.
Phone Phyllis on 07754 966336 or Trudy on 07595 261735 for more information about the event. For information on the carnival glass society visit www.thecgs.co.uk.
