Caravan gutted by fire in the north of the Harborough district

No one was injured and the blaze is believed to have been started accidentally

A caravan was gutted by fire in a Harborough village yesterday (Sunday).

Two fire appliances from Leicester’s Eastern Station and one from Birstall tackled the blaze – which broke out just before midday.

Firefighters used “four breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets, one main jet and drag forks” to fight the fire - which sent thick smoke soaring into the sky.

A nearby digger is also thought to have been damaged in the drama.

No one was injured and the blaze is believed to have been started accidentally.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident a car was driven into a hedge and torched on Friday night.

Harborough police are urging any eye-witnesses to contact them on 101 as they investigate the incident.
