A thriving charity based in Harborough’s Settling Rooms is looking for trustees to join its small, committed team.
Voluntary Action South Leicestershire (VASL) provides a range of services to people living in the Harborough district.
Among these are providing social transport to people with mobility problems, becoming a volunteering friend for isolated older people and groups for young carers.
The organisation also has contracts with Leicestershire County Council to work with GPs to identify carers and signpost them to relevant services – and it provides services to more than 1,500 carers across the county.
Maureen O’Malley, from VASL, said: “We are looking for new trustees to join our small, committed and friendly board of trustees and directors.
“We particularly need trustees with a legal background or with human resources expertise.
“But if you can offer other skills, we would like to hear from you.
“We are committed to diversity and aim to ensure that the composition of the board of trustees reflects the community at large.”
VASL asks that potential trustees should be able to commit time to attend a full board meeting every two months.
Trustees are also encouraged to join at least one sub-committee – there are currently finance and human resource sub-committees – and participate in joint working groups with the staff.
These posts are unpaid but reasonable expenses will be paid.
Maureen added: “Applicants will be asked to submit a CV and complete a short skills audit.”
