Campaigners from the charity Rethink Mental Illness met Harborough MP Sir Edward Garnier, to ask him to make funding for local mental health services a top priority over the next five years.

The meeting, organised by local Rethink Mental Illness campaigners, is part of the charity’s Fair Funding campaign, which is calling for more investment in mental health care across England.

Naill Murray, a Rethink Mental Illness campaigner from Harborough, said: “One in four people will have a mental health problem at some point in their lives, but too many people aren’t getting the support they need.

“That’s because mental health services are underfunded and overstretched. This can’t be allowed to continue because it’s ruining lives.

“We’re really pleased to have met with Sir Edward to discuss these hugely important issues and raise them with the Prime Minister.”
