Cafe staff convinced Harry Potter writer had popped in

Did top author JK Rowling really have a Potter around Harborough last week?

The truth is, readers, that we don’t really know for sure.

All we can say is that staff of Market Harborough cafe Milo’s, which is in Bennett’s Place off the High Street, are convinced she did.

Cafe owner Natalie Panting thinks the Harry Potter and The Casual Vacancy author dropped in last Friday at about 1pm.

“A staff member who served her said she was talking to a friend about writing and travel,” said Natalie.

JK Rowling, or a very convincing lookalike, left after about half-an-hour following a meal of a jacket potato and a slice of Victoria sponge.

Staff and customers were buzzing afterwards about the presence of a famous person.

But everyone was far too polite to ask for an autograph or bluntly approach her.

“We’ve had Gok Wan in a couple of times too,” added Natalie. “It was definitely him. And he was lovely.”
