Royal Mail staff working hard during their busiest time of the year have received high praise from the leader of Harborough Disrict Council.

Council leader Blake Pain recently visited Royal Mail’s Market Harborough delivery office on the Riverside Industrial Estate to pass on Christmas wishes and encouragement to postal workers at their most stressful time of the year.

Cllr Pain was shown around the office by delivery office manager Luke Marshall and was introduced to the postmen and women who are working hard sorting and delivering mail in the run-up to Christmas.

Mr Marshall said: “Our staff are working extremely hard to deliver Christmas cards, letters and parcels to people across Harborough.

“We are grateful Cllr Pain visited the office to see our operation and to support the team during our busiest time of year.”

Cllr Pain said: “It was great to meet postmen and women at Market Harborough’s delivery office and see first-hand just how much effort they put into delivering for people at this time of year.

“Our postal workers do such an important job at this time of year and help to deliver Christmas for many people and families in our area.”

Meanwhile, people are being reminded about the posting deadline dates to ensure Christmas cards and gifts arrive on time.

Second-class is Thursday, December 18, and first-class is Saturday, December 20.

Special delivery deadline day is Tuesday, December 23.
