The decades-old tradition of the Fernie Hunt meet is
taking place in Great Bowden on Boxing Day (Friday, December 26).
The huntsmen and women will be on horseback in the finery as well as dozens of hounds on The Green in the village from about 10am.
Long-time Mail snapper Andrew Carpenter will be out and about on the day taking pictures.
Although frowned upon by some of the anti-hunting lobby, the event continues to attract thousands of supporters each year who see it as a traditional countryside event.
After the meet, the Fernie then follows a trail scent over the fields nearby.
See the Mail’s Thursday, January 1, edition for a picture spread from the day.
