A new brewery selling beer made in Market Harborough will launch this Saturday.
The grand opening of The Market Harborough Brewery and Shop is at 71 St Mary’s Road (behind the Plumb Center), LE16 7DS.
Saturday’s event, running from midday to 9.30pm, will feature five different Market Harborough beers for sale, including cask ales and bottled beers. There will also be live music from 4pm.
The new brewery is the dream of Harborough man Simon Shepley (50), a former sales and marketing executive.
“I’ve been a keen brewer for 25 years, from home” he said. “But for years I’ve wanted my own brewery business, and I’ve always wondered why Market Harborough didn’t have its own brewery.
“It got to the point where I thought ‘if I don’t do this now, I never will’.
All the Market Harborough Brewery beer will be made on the St Mary’s Road premises. The shop selling the beer will be open every Saturday.
Simon said he also hoped to sell the beer through local pubs, including The Beerhouse, which is virtually opposite his brewery.
The Market Harborough Brewery will initially sell a Best, a Pale, an ESP, an IPA and a Brown Ale.
But Simon adds the brewery is keen to start brewing craft ales too, including a red beer made with hibiscus.
If any readers have a good idea for a name for the red beer, they should contact Simon at the Brewery.
