Artist in residence returns to stately home for workshops

Kelmarsh Hall’s artist-in-residence Maureen Smith returns this year to offer Painting in the Orangery workshops.

Maureen, who has a degree in Fine Art, has worked with The Kelmarsh Trust for a number of years, leading painting in the garden classes.

This year, she will be taking full advantage of Kelmarsh Hall’s newly restored Orangery which, with its glass roof and views across the parkland, offers a wonderful setting in which participants can develop their painting and drawing skills.

Using the surroundings of Kelmarsh Hall and Gardens for inspiration, the day will be structured to include time ‘on location’ in the gardens and time inside the Orangery to develop pictures.

The sessions are open to all abilities and take place from 11am to 4pm (with an hour’s lunchbreak) on the following Wednesdays: June 3, July 15, August 5, and September 23.

Participants need to bring their own materials and a chair but a limited stock of art materials are available for beginners.

The cost is £30 which includes garden admission to book call 01604 686543.
