A man has been arrested in connection with the distribution of allegedly homophobic leaflets in towns including Harborough.

People living in the town reported having the leaflets pushed through their letterboxes in the summer, with one of those handing them out said to have been dressed as a monk.

Police say a Northamptonshire man was arrested on Monday in connection with a public order offence.

A spokesman for Cambridgeshire Police said: “We have arrested a 53-year-old man from Corby on suspicion of a section five public order offence (religious/racial).

“He has been bailed until January 20 to return to Huntingdon Police Station.”
