Anything but '˜plane' sailing in Lutterworth

After the recent storms, a four-wheel drive cherry-picker was needed to pick a way across the Lutterworth roundabout and allow the Whittle Trust to carry-out a routine check of the Whittle jet replica.

Local firm Nationwide Platforms was able to provide the platform, controlled by Andrew Holdman. This allowed Derek Briganshaw and Trevor Jelley to remove inspection hatches and allow the replica’s original structural designer, Gerwaint Bowen of civil engineers Arup Consulting, to assure himself that everything remains sound.

Now Whittle Programmed Painting (no relation) of Nottingham will be able to undertake its repainting.
