Little Bowden WI marked the WI’s centenary with a glamorous garden party at the Oat Hill on Sunday afternoon.
The group, who are also celebrating their fifth birthday this month, dressed up in their best ‘hats and heels’ finery and released 100 balloons into the air. This was followed by traditional tea and cakes with the modern twist of a glass of fizz. Little Bowden WI president, Grainne Purkiss, said: “The WI is as relevant for today’s women as it has ever been. Politically, socially and demographically the WI can appeal to every woman in 2015 and beyond.”
The WI said that should you find one of the balloons, follow the instructions on the label attached. Little Bowden WI meets every second Wednesday at the Bowling Club on Kettering Road. For more information, visit www.littlebowdenwi.co.uk
