A lauded county St John Ambulance trophy was won for the third time in four years by a Market Harborough brigade nurse, 50 years ago this week.
The Musson Trophy, awarded to the best young St John Ambulance nurse in the city and county, was won in 1964 by Harborough woman Barbara Toombs, who was then aged 22. She had finished third the previous year.
The competition included tests on first-aid and nursing and a general knowledge quiz about St John brigade issues.
Mrs M Mould had won the trophy for Harborough in 1961 and Miss L Street in 1963.
