Symington’s party treat

The directors of the former R & WH Symington & Co corset factory in Adam and Eve Street, Harborough, used to organise an annual festive party for the children of its workers.

Held in the factory’s clubroom, some of the youngsters are shown here eagerly awaiting to receive their presents from Widow Twanky (Mr Gerald Heighton) and Aladdin (Cynthia Herbert).

The picture was first published in the Mail about 50 years ago this week, on January 7, 1965.
