Michelle hits the high note

Musical maestro Michelle Kemp had plenty to blow her own trumpet about 25 years ago this week after earning a place with a top national youth orchestra.

Then 13-years-old, Michelle so impressed selectors with her euphonium skills that even though she had only been playing for three years, they didn’t hesitate to award her a place with the National Children’s Wind Orchestra.

The Welland Park College pupil and Harborough Band member would go on to perform in a concert at London’s prestigious Queen Elizabeth Hall in September of that year, reported the Mail on January 4, 1990.
