It’s being sponsored by Andrew Granger & Co, based on Market Harborough High Street, as guests will have to attend virtually from home for the first time amid the Covid-19 outbreak.

At the heart of the much-anticipated event is a Ready, Steady, Cook showstopper with the Dean, the Very Rev David Monteith, himself.

Featuring a special video and recipes to be released in advance, the Dean invites guests to make the dinner a real fun experience with everyone eating the same meal at home.

Guest speaker Bishop Guli will talk about ‘Belonging and Becoming’ while there will also be music, a quiz and a silent auction to keep you entertained.

Dinner guests will have the option to join others in breakout tables of six to 10 – either with people that have been arranged in advance or choose the wild card and see who the random dinner date generator selects.

The Very Rev David Monteith said: “Our annual dinner is a vital source of income for us.

“But it is also an important time for the community to gather and give thanks for abundance in hospitality and goodwill in our great city and county.”

Andrew Robinson, a director at Andrew Granger & Co, said: “We have enjoyed supporting and attending this event for many years and this year will be no exception, if just a little different.

“It will be a shame to not be in the spectacular surrounding of the cathedral itself this time.

“But I am sure it’ll still be a superb evening and the great news is the fundraiser can still go ahead and is helping to safeguard the building for years to come.”

The virtual Leicester Cathedral Guild of St Martin Dinner takes place from 7pm-8.30pm on Wednesday November 4 from 7pm–8.30pm.

Tickets costing £10.54 each can be secured from https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/the-guild-of-st-martin-annual-dinner-2020-tickets-125078199261 or by calling 07944 891867.
