The respiratory masks are normally used by the developer’s site teams to protect them from dust and fumes.

The kit has now been handed over to hospitals’ doctors and nurses caught up in the coronavirus outbreak.

Masks are being given to medics at Leicester Royal Infirmary, Glenfield Hospital and Loughborough Hospital.

Additional respiratory masks are also set to be delivered to other hospitals in Derbyshire, Warwickshire, West Midlands and South Yorkshire.

John Reddington, managing director at David Wilson Homes East Midlands, said: “The donation of high quality FFP3 protective masks from our site teams across Leicestershire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Warwickshire will hopefully help NHS employees to continue the admirable work they do on a daily basis.

“We’re proud of our employees for their decision to support those whose need is greater.

“We are thrilled to make the most of this opportunity to support our key workers.”

He added: “As a leading developer, it’s our responsibility to assist charities and organisations within the communities we build.”

The masks have been collected by workers at David Wilson Homes’ developments across Leicestershire, including Burnmill Grange, Market Harborough, Fleckney Fields, Fleckney and in Kibworth.
