Just over 75 per cent of people over 80 have now had their first vaccination dose against Covid-19 in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

New figures from the NHS show how many people have had the first injection across the country, with regional breakdowns, up to January 24.

The figures show that 96,870 people have now had their first vaccination dose - 40,435 of them over 80, which makes up 76.6 per cent of the regional population over 80.

Some of these will now have gone on to have their second dose and hopefully the NHS will soon be releasing that data.

Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland is ranked as 30th in order of the areas giving out the most vaccinations - Gloucestershire is top with 91.1 per cent of over 80s having the first dose.
