Just under 100 people have died due to Covid-19 in the Harborough district in 2020.

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) has complied the data, covering the start of the pandemic and up until the end of December.

They state that the deaths they have recorded are where COVID-19 was the underlying cause of death.

In total, 94 people were registered as dying due to Covid-19 in the Harborough district. In total, 94 people were registered as dying due to Covid-19 in the Harborough district.

Sadly, the figures is likely to be higher once the numbers from January are included, as January saw a high rise in cases across the country.

38 people died within the town of Market Harborough, 21 in Kibworth and Great Glen, 5 in Lutterworth and 2 in Broughton Astley.

This means, of course, that many thousands of people recovered from the virus. Many had little or no symptoms - but unfortunately there are no figures for these specific categories.

Another positive note is that many thousands of people have now been vaccinated, or are waiting for their second vaccination.

The latest figures show that 61,532 people in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland have had either one of two injections, up to January 17. That figure is now likely to be a lot higher and hopefully the NHS will soon be releasing more data on these numbers.

Here are the overall figures for 2020 where COVID-19 was the underlying cause of death.
