Robert Smyth Academy will be helping under-pressure hospitals throughout Leicestershire.

These pictures show a stack of protective equipment donated by the school to Leicester Royal Infirmary.

The goggles, masks and other vital kit will help frontline NHS staff throughout Leicestershire stay safe as they fight the coronavirus.

Dan Cleary, the principal at Robert Smyth on Burnmill Road, Harborough, said: “We are delighted to support this appeal.

“The LRI and other hospitals are incredibly busy at this amazingly challenging time.

“Our staff really have rallied to the cause and answered the call collecting equipment which could help save lives.”

The county-wide initiative has been launched by Liam Powell, the head at Manor High School in Oadby.

And it’s also being backed by Market Harborough’s Welland Park Academy as staff there have also sprang into action to help.
