A Market Harborough primary school has passed its latest test with flying colours.

Great Bowden Academy was delighted to receive the highest grading of “excellent” in their recent church school inspection.

It was obviously carried out before the school was forced to shut by the national coronavirus crisis last month.

The inspectors’ report said: “This is an excellent church academy which lives and breathes its Christian vision, each individual is affirmed as unique and cherished.”

The study also celebrates the effective leadership of the school and the dedicated staff and governors.

Inspectors highlighted the strong links the school, which has about 135 pupils aged from 4-11, has with the local church of St Peter and St Paul.

The Gunnsbrook Close school’s curriculum was praised as being “exceptionally creative” with a pupil saying “lessons are built around us”.

Angela Dewes, the school’s executive headteacher, said: “We were delighted with the report and pleased that the inspector recognized the excellent practice at Great Bowden.

“This is a testament to the work and support of the staff, pupils, parents, Church and local community.”

Great Bowden Academy is one of 10 primary schools which belong to the Learn Academies Trust.
