A popular primary school in Market Harborough is building up its library thanks to a new £1,000 boost.

The book voucher donation has been handed to Market Harborough C of E Academy by major housebuilder Taylor Wimpey East Midlands.

The developer said it was getting behind the Fairfield Road school’s reading development project.

Currently closed due to the coronavirus pandemic, the school’s headteacher, Emma Tayler, said: “I would like to say a big thank you to Taylor Wimpey on behalf of everyone at our school.

“We really appreciate the generous donation.

“It will go a long way towards new reading material.”

She added: “Books are a great way to fire up children’s imaginations and to teach them about the world around them.

“So it's brilliant to be able to add some new titles to our school library.”

The school has about 400 pupils aged from 5-11.

Rob Curry, sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey East Midlands, said: “We are delighted to support Market Harborough C of E Academy with a donation towards new books for their school library.

“We recognise how valuable it is for young children to enjoy reading books.

“We hope the new titles will help inspire the children and fuel their imaginations.”
