Scores of shoppers turned out to celebrate the return of the Farmers Market to Market Harborough.

People poured into town from all over the area as the ever-popular mart set back up in The Square after being hit by the Covid-19 lockdown.

Traders and stall holders loved returning to the town centre as the market re-opened from 9am-3pm.

Strict measures were taken to try to stop the coronavirus spreading as a one-in, one-out queuing system was enforced along with a revised layout and hand sanitiser stations.

Sit down seating was not available while shoppers were told not to touch produce without buying and urged to pay by card.

The leader of Harborough District Council, Cllr Phil King, said: “It was great to see the Farmers Market back here again.

“We need to support our local producers and their customers.

“We introduced measures to ensure the market will be a safe space so the public will feel confident to come out and support our traders in the weeks and months to come.”
