Outdoor gym is re-opening in Harborough following the three-month Covid-19 lockdown

An outdoor gym is being re-opened in Market Harborough on Tuesday July 6 following the three-month Covid-19 lockdown.

More Fitness-Harborough on Rockingham Road is acting as restrictions are gradually eased all over the UK.

Fitness enthusiasts will be breathing a sigh of relief and raring to go as the gym throws open its doors.

Unlike indoor centres, More Fitness has an external, surfaced outdoor gym with equipment.

Customers will be able to use exercise bikes, rowing machines, air bikes and free weights as well as functional kit like kettlebells, medicine balls, slam balls and a sled.

The open air part of the complex has always proved popular feature for More Fitness members.

Manager Jack Garner said: “We’re very lucky at More Fitness to have this amazing outdoor space.

“We’ve got plenty of high-quality equipment and enough space for people to safely exercise in a socially-distanced way.”

He added: “Our number one priority is always the safety of the people who use and work at our gym.

“We’re confident that with the measures we’ve put in place people are going to feel reassured when they come back to or join More Fitness in Harborough.

“During lockdown, we’ve been running live online workout classes for free, from some of our top instructors.

“These have gone down very well with great engagement numbers, keeping people active and connected during this difficult time.”

The gym will be operating with pre-bookable sessions via the More Fitness app.

Slots will be hourly on weekdays from 7am-11am and 3pm-8pm.

Weekends will open from 8am-12midday.

There are enhanced cleaning procedures in place.

Cleaning materials and hand sanitising gel will be available to members so they can sanitise equipment before and after use as well as their hands as frequently as they need to.

The outdoor gym is also closed in the middle of the day on weekdays when thorough cleaning of all equipment and touch-points will be carried out.

More Fitness-Harborough opened in September 2019. It’s managed by the More Leisure Community Trust, which appointed Serco Leisure as its operating agent.
