The important postal service will be set up in a convenience store at 17 Adam and Eve Street, it’s been revealed.

The Post Office said its new outlet will offer a “convenient quick service and modern retail environment”.

“Customers of the main UK banks can access accounts at the new branch.

“Services will include bill payment, cash withdrawals and foreign currency, postage, home shopping collections and returns,” said a Post Office spokeswoman.

She said “the new premises, which was empty, is undergoing a refurbishment to incorporate a Post Office and convenience store”.

It will open at 1pm on Wednesday June 10.

“The experienced Postmaster has two other branches.

“The current operator at 12 St Mary’s Place, Market Harborough, has resigned and the branch will close on Tuesday June 9 at 5.30pm,” said the spokeswoman.

During the brief transfer period alternative branches in Market Harborough include:

Logan Street Post Office, 6 Logan Street, Market Harborough, LE16 9AR

Western Avenue Post Office, 45-47 Western Avenue, Market Harborough, LE16 9PL

Great Bowden Post Office, 28 The Green, Great Bowden, LE16 7EU

“The relocation of Market Harborough Post Office will enable us to maintain a Post Office service for our customers in the local community.

“There will be three serving positions.

“There will be a dedicated area of the convenience store for a full-screened counter and an open-plan counter,” said the Post Office spokeswoman.

“There will also be a Post Office serving point alongside the retail counter of the store for the convenience of customers.

“The new premises has a wide door and a step at the entrance.

“However, access will be made level at the entrance.”

The new Post Office will be open from 9am-5.30pm Monday to Saturday.

“A wide range of products and services will still be available,” said the spokeswoman.
