A Harborough broadloom weaver is making world-beating face coverings – and you can even buy them in your favourite football club’s colours.

Paul Hall, 74, is now selling ‘masks’ at Harborough Market in Market Harborough that are retro reflective, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal.

And at just £2.50 each they are flying off the shelves.

Thrilled Paul, who runs Genesis Reflective Products on Harborough Road, Kibworth Harcourt, said: “I’m absolutely over the moon.

“We have designed and produced a new wonder face covering that is unique.

“And it’s going down an absolute storm – people can’t get enough of them.”

The brilliantly-innovative veteran weaver and traditional ropemaker said his products can be washed time and again.

“The linings are made of top anti-bacterial yarn and these are flesh friendly.

“This is totally crucial,” said Paul, of Church Langton, near Market Harborough.

“It’s vital that our face coverings work on all sorts of levels.

“Ours help to save lives by combating the spread of Covid-19 – and that’s clearly critical.

“They are also great to wear and won’t make the wearer feel claustrophobic and uncomfortable.

“I can’t deal with your routine face mask.

“They make me feel sweaty and steam up my glasses.

“I’ve got to wear face coverings when we are working away in Harborough Market.

“So it’s important that I’m happy covering my face and that’s helped to inspire my fantastic new range.

“I’m also producing them in the colours of football clubs like Leicester, Liverpool and Manchester United as well as Leicester Tigers.

“And we will also knock them out in the colours of local schools too.

“We already make scarves for staff and kids at about 40 schools throughout Leicestershire.”

Ingenious Paul, who claims to be the only broadloom weaver in the Midlands, started turning out his new mould-breaking face coverings three weeks ago.

“We produce 80 ‘masks’ an hour.

“They’re a snip at just £2.50.

“We are always on the go, looking out for exciting new opportunities,” he said.

“We have just pulled in an order for £30,000 for retro reflective ropes on traffic cones.

“You can find us on our stall at Harborough Market from 8am-3pm every Friday and Saturday.

“This is not just about us.

“We all need to do what we can to fire up our local economy again and get Harborough moving.

“Our market is top class, we love it.

“So please come along and snap up one of our new face coverings - but support my fellow market traders, too, in these very tough times.”
