Lucy is up for three awards - Best for Blonde, Best Hair Extensions Salon and Hairstylist of the Year.

She said: "I applied for the hair and beauty awards UK during lockdown, initially as something to do but I didn't think for a minute I would make it as a finalist in three categories.

"Getting that email saying I was a finalist was an amazing start to the year considering the past year us hairdressers have had to endure with Covid and having to close for some of it."

Lucy has been working as a hairdresser on and off since she left Robert Smyth School and has been working at Wainwrights for about three years.

"I love hairdressing as every day is different and you never stop learning new things and we also help people to feel better about themselves which is the best part of the job." she said.

"The finals are not until March and unfortunately this year they will be held virtually due to Covid.

"But even if I don't win anything I'm just happy to make it this far."
