A man who helps to run one of Market Harborough’s top stores has set up a pop-up shop at his home to boost villagers.

Christian West, 40, is staging his one-man open air retail show outside his house in Husbands Bosworth on Tuesday and Saturday mornings.

And it’s going down a storm with local people from Bosworth and beyond after so many shops have been forced to shut by the coronavirus.

Thrilled Christian said: “We’ve got off to a terrific start – and it’s great fun too.

People really seem to appreciate what we are doing and I’m grateful for their support.

“This is a genuine two-way thing.”

The dad-of-one, who’s already put on four pop-ups, is selling a wide range of delicious food and handy products.

“We’ve got different breads, potatoes, pastas, ham, cheeses, butter, yeast, chocolates and veg.

“I’m getting daily deliveries of produce so it’s been simple and straightforward so far to provide villagers with their essential needs,” said Christian.

“We’ve got a remarkable community spirit here.

“People can meet up and chat to each other, while keeping their social distance, as well as restocking their larders.”

If you would like to pop along, you’ll find Christian at 6 Welford Road, Husbands Bosworth, and he’s trading from 9.30am-12midday on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

“I’d also like to stress that Emerson & Wests is still very much open for business in Harborough town centre.

“We’re the fifth generation of the family there and we’ve been open in the town for over 130 years,” he said.

“I run it with my dad Michael, mum Kristine and brother Stuart.

“We have a brilliant delicatessen and bakery at the shop and are selling just about everything you need – so please nip along and have a look for yourself.”
