A musical described as heart warming will be staged in Market Harborough.

The Cole Porter classic Anything Goes runs at Welland Park Academy Theatre from Wednesday to Saturday April 5 to 8.

But it will be a bittersweet show for Market Harborough Musical Theatre who are staging the group as it is likely to be their last.

This show features many of Cole Porter’s easily recognizable numbers such as, I Get a Kick Out of You, You’re the Top, It’s Delovely and the title song Anything Goes.

This family friendly show tells the story of a very mixed bag of passengers sailing from New York to England on the good ship SS American.

With gangsters, millionaires, British aristocrats, sultry show girls and a cabaret artist turned evangelist, the inevitable crazy situations lead to great comic antics.

The production has been described by a spokesman for the group as delightful, delicious, delovely and one that is suitable for the entire family.

Originally produced on Broadway starring Ethel Merman in 1934, becoming the longest running musical of the 30’s, the show has been revived many times and made into two movies starring Bing Crosby. It has won Tony awards and an Olivier Award.

It is presented by arrangement with MusicScope.

The cast includes Heidi Coleman, Dylan Atkinson and Kate Evans who have all appeared in productions locally before.

It has been directed by Peter Darnell and the musical director is Rod Illife.

There will be performances taking place at 7.30pm each evening with a matinee production starting at 2.30pm on Saturday April 8.

Tickets for the show cost £15 for the evening performances and £12 for the matinee performance.

Tickets are available on line at mhmt.ticketsource.co.uk however booking fees apply.

They can also be bough by calling 07969 252823 or in person by visiting Jessica Mary Flowers, Abbey Street.

People are advised to book tickets for the show early to avoid disappointment.
