Young musicians are to play the Royal Albert Hall during the prestigious School Proms late this year.
Youth Brass 2000, based in Wilbarston, were invited to perform at the event on November 12 following a successful year for the band. They were named Butlin’s Youth Band Champions in January, National Youth Entertainment Champions of Great Britain at Blackpool in February and won a special award for musical innovation at Music for Youth at the Symphony Hall in Birmingham.
They were crowned BBC Radio 2 Youth Band of the Year 2013 and also played at the opening ceremony for the new Birmingham Library earlier this month.
Chairman Don Collins said: “No other youth band has had the consistent and widespread success that ours has enjoyed. We have a fantastic team of parent helpers and the best conducting team in the business in Chris Jeans and Adele Hudson.”
