Music fans can test their knowledge in a quiz while raising funds for a youth-run music festival in town.
The fifth annual Rock on the Rec festival is a free music event that takes place for young people, run young people, on Symington’s Recreation Ground in Harborough.
This year’s event is from 4pm to 9pm on Friday, August 15.
Plans are picking up pace for the 2014 event, with workshops and entertainment from district young performers already lined up, as well as the regular family fun event in partnership with Seven Locks Housing.
The event’s organisers Enable Youth, the Rural Youth Voice Project and the town’s Cube youth centre are organising a music quiz night next Sunday, July 6, to raise funds for this year’s event.
The quiz, which is being held at The Three Swans Hotel in Harborough, will include music from young district musicians who will be performing at this years festival, as well as the quiz which will test people’s knowledge about all things musical from festivals to music icons, and will cover tunes from the 1960s to the present day.
The Three Swans is also putting on a barbecue and there will be prizes to be won.
It is the third year the festival’s organisers have organised the quiz, which has been deemed a big success in previous years.
Rural Youth Voice project worker Sian Ponting said: “The quiz is a really fun way for us to raise money for Rock on the Rec.
“The young volunteers put the evening together, doing everything from the questions to the music.
“This is a great opportunity for the adults of the town to come along and support the hard work and dedication of these young people.”
The quiz starts at 6.30pm Teams of up to five people are allowed and it costs £4 per person.
