Kelmarsh hosts Bake Off stars

Two of the contestants from the ever popular BBC show The Great British Bake Off will be appearing at a food event in Kelmarsh.

The estate in Northamptonshire host the Great British Food Festival for the first time on Saturday July 23 to Sunday July 24.

Luis Troyano, a runner up on series five of the show and Miranda Gore-Browne, who was a finalist on the show’s first series appear at the event.

The line-up also includes over eighty best of British producers and street food vendors, celebrity chef demos, talks, kids cookery lessons, great live music, a Cake Off competition and ‘Men v Food’ challenges.

Miranda will do the chef demon on the first day with Luis doing it on Sunday. They will each take centre stage at 12noon and 3pm on their respective days.

Alongside the celeb chefs, some of the best regional talent will be showcasing their skills; so from baking tips to fine dining know-how the demo theatre is the place to be for any budding chef.

On top of cooking up treats on the demo stage, Luis and Miranda will be judging the popular Great British Cake Off, where amateur bakers compete head to head in two baking categories.

Luis said: “I love doing the demos and the cake off, its great to try all the cakes the public bring in, always great fun and people love getting involved.”

A popular addition to the programme of events has been the in-house Forager, Adele Nozedar, who leads small groups around the estate searching for wild foods.

The walks take place daily and can be booked in advance or on the day. Adele usual finds some fabulous and unusual treats from the wild products she has foraged throughout the day.

There is entertainment for all the family throughout the bank holiday weekend, including kid’s cookery lessons, free circus skills, kids crafts as well as some children’s rides. Tgere is also some live music from local bands and artists will be displaying their work.
