A MYSTERIOUS object flying in the skies above Harborough has been captured on film.
Mail reader Robin Maughan shot the footage from Western Avenue park at about 10pm last night (Monday, June 13).

Click play above to see the video.

Mr Maughan was listening to his iPod while jogging in the park when he saw a light moving across the night sky.

He said: "Myself and a family who were out walking the dog stopped and also witnessed this 'thing'

"The young girl shouted: "mum look at that! what is it?" which made us all look in amazement at the slow soundless object.

"The light was like a big yellow flame, flickering from harsh blinding to soft gentle light. I took my headphones out to hear for an engine or something but there was no sound at all.

"We gazed for about five minutes as it went across about 60/70 mph to the north into a dark cloud in which the big yellow light seemed to vanish and was then just a black round "ball" so to speak in the sky.

"Myself and the family had no idea what it could be as there were no wings, no other little flashing lights, no sound, no propellers, nothing."

Is Mr Maughan's video proof of the existence of extraterrestrial life?

Or is it another Chinese lantern?

Excellent videography for this type of recording. Very little camera shake.
As for the subject matter, while intriguing, one has to ask, did anyone check the time and direction of orbit, of the International Space Station? It's very prominent in the evening / night sky this month and this object seems to be in a prime position to reflect the setting sun.
