Rugby club lounge plan gets backing
LUTTERWORTH Rugby Club’s plans to extend its clubhouse in Ashby Lane, Bitteswell, have been backed by Lutterworth Town Council.
The club has applied for planning permission for a single-storey extension to the clubhouse which will improve the lounge and kitchen areas, the changing rooms and toilet facilities.
On Tuesday, town councillors supported the proposals.
Cllr Eileen Derrick said she was familiar with the clubhouse, having visited it on a number of occasions.
She added: “It is a good community facility which is used for events and occasions other than rugby. I know the Lutterworth Twinning Association use it, for example.
“I think it will turn out to be a vastly improved facility.”
Rugby club treasurer Martin Willey said the new improvements would benefit both the club and wider community.
He added: “The lounge area can be and is used by community groups.”
