Records tumble as club’s championships get under way

PART one of the annual Market Harborough Swimming Club championships saw a remarkable six records broken.

Georgia Weller and Candice Hall broke two records each.

Weller, swimming in the girls’ 9-10 age group, set new best times in the 100m free and breaststroke, with Hall (15/o) setting new club records for the 50m fly and 100m breaststroke events.

Jay Newman broke his own 100m breaststroke record in the boys’ 9-10 age group, with Charlie Poole (11-12) completing the set of record-breakers in the 100m free.

Winners of the age category events were:

Girls’ backstroke - Freya Johnson (8/u), Rebecca Samandi (9s), Georgia Weller (10s), Grace Bolton (11-12), Olivia Weller (13-14) and Candice Hall (15/o).

Boys’ backstroke - Jack Burton (8/u), Ben Wellicome (9s), Ben Bekavac (10s), Charlie Poole (11-12), Oliver Tremlett (13-14) and Harry Waddington (15/o).

Girls’ fly - Mia Poole (9s), Georgia Weller (10s), Grace Bolton (11-12), Olivia Weller (13-14) and Candice Hall (15/o).

Boys’ fly - Frankie Aldridge (9s), Jay Newman (10s), Charlie Poole (11-12), Kieran Flint (13-14) and Ed Robinson (15/o).

Girls’ 100m individual medley - Mia Poole (9s), Georgia Weller (10s), Emily Kendall (11-12), Olivia Weller (13-14) and Candice Hall (15/o).

Girls’ open - 100m free 1st Candice Hall, 2nd Olivia Weller, 3rd Eleanor Robinson.

100m breaststroke - 1st Candice Hall, 2nd Olivia Weller, 3rd Pippa Ball.

Boys’ open 100m free - 1st Harry Waddington, 2nd Ed Robinson, 3rd Theo Brogan.

100m breaststroke - 1st Theo Brogan, 2nd Ed Robinson, 3rd Mark Kendall.
