WILBARSTON’S Henry Sharpe, who has been racing MGs for the past decade, has switched to the high-profile, televised BRSCC Porsche Championship.
In the last round of the Porsche competition, an excited Sharpe will be racing at Donington Park on October 20 in his sleek new black and orange machine.
With his new target clearly set, Sharpe said he was looking forward to the challenge very much.
He said: “After ten years in total racing various MGs, it was a very hard decision to leave. I got two wins earlier this year with my MG.
“We then decided as a team that the Porsche Championship, with its televised series and higher profile, would be great for us.
“And after a long talk with my sponsors, I went and bought my Porsche 924.”
The new car is vastly different from Sharpe’s old MG. Notably, it is rear wheel drive, which he is not fazed by.
He added: “It’s like anything. You have to go through a period of getting used to it, but I have no doubt that the car is tip-top – and ready to ruffle some feathers at Donington.”
Sharpe has thanked his sponsors, including the BJD Group, Abtec Network Systems, the Battery Store and CW Entertainments for ensuring he was able to get a deal on the table to secure the new car to contest the Porsche Championship.
