More honours for town pair

HARBOROUGH duo Charles Lee and Patsy McCann gained Midland ABA junior titles in Scunthorpe to add to their already impressive rolls of honour.

Light-welterweight Lee, celebrating his 17th birthday, was a clear winner yet again when beating Jordan Cameron from Kirby in Ashfield 17-3 on the computer.

He professionally stalked the fast-handed and mobile Mansfield teenager before slipping inside and unloading to the body with combinations

Multi-titled McCann won closely on points against the promoting club’s Robbie Drayton at light-middleweight.

Gradually he found the target with right hands against the shorter, experienced southpaw, who did his homework in waiting to counter.

Sixteen-year-old McCann successfully did a lot of feinting, trying to draw Drayton in to counter the counter-attack in the centre of the ring. Shaking off the ring rust after being out of competition for a long period, McCann got three valuable rounds under his belt going forward to the next competition round against Manchester.
