The traditional annual drive-in ceremony for four new captains of Market Harborough was well supported.
David Price-Jones is the new captain in succession to Victor Bowie.
Liz Harris, who succeeded Christine Pollock, Mike Menczer – senior – and Brandon Armitage – junior – who took over from David Smith and Jon Mundy respectively, also took part.
Market Harborough members competed in a better-ball Stableford tournament.
This was won by Geoff and Peter Jameson – a father-and-son pairing playing off 13 and five handicaps respectively – who had a total of 43 points to hold off their closest challengers Mike Rose (17) and Rich Dixon (9) by just one point.
Paul Bracegirdle (4) – the 2012 men’s club champion – and Peter McMahon (11) finished third on 41 points having tied with David Devine (13) and Gary Foreman (17) only for the placings to be resolved by local rule.
Lutterworth professional Lee Challinor was on the leaderboard in the latest county golf Alliance tournament, played in tough conditions at Park Hill.
Challinor shot 78 to tie third in the pro medal with Ed Martin (Longcliffe). They were one behind Matthew Cort (Rothley Park) and Ross Bradshaw (Birstall) both with 77 cards joint top.
Cort, who was formerly attached to Kibworth before starting his PGA training, described it as “extremely difficult – as bad as you can possibly imagine”.
Kibworth professional Bryn Morris and his son, Tom, also ended among the prizewinners at Park Hill with their 39-point tally over the par 73 course. They took the pro/am section award.
Overall winners of the better-ball Stableford were David Jennaway and David Archer (Charnwood Forest) with their haul of 44 points.
The medal at Cold Ashby was won by Stuart Nicholas (3) with a net 67.
He took the Division One title from David Fuller while Gary Payne (13 handicap, net 71) topped Division Two.
David Hoyle (21) led Division Three after a tie on 73 net with Neil Entwistle (21) was resolved on local rule.
