A bridge not too far for Nigel and club colleagues
LUTTERWORTH GC’s Nigel Pearce led the project to provide a new bridge on the course in the run-up to being named the club’s captain.
Pearce is a builder and bid successfully to build the bridge over the River Swift.
In fact he has a growing reputation for bridge-building, say club officials, having previously constructed a stone bridge on the course.
The new one follows a bequest made by a former club member, Joan Coxon, who died last year. She made the bequest to the golf club with the money to be used for the benefit of members.
She had been a member for 45 years and her late husband, Harry, had been a member for 41 years.
It was decided a new memorial bridge over the Swift would be an appropriate acknowledgement of their commitment to the golf club.
Many members attended the grand opening including president Tony Rogers and women’s president Margaret Lightowler, cutting the ribbons on the day.
