Splashing stuff .. third victory on trot boosts Town

DEFEATING the deluge was not Harborough Town’s only boast at the weekend.

They made the most of the opportunity by registering their third United Counties League premier division win in seven days – pulling them further away from the drop zone in the process.

Saturday’s excellent 3-1 success at Peterborough Northern Star followed wins over fellow strugglers Irchester United and Stewarts and Lloyds Corby. Strikes by Ben Barton and Jake Bettles plus an own goal saw Town home.

This Saturday Harborough entertain Holbeach United, while the reserves have a local derby scheduled at Rothwell.

Desborough Town were hit by two UCL postponements in four days, last Wednesday’s game at Huntingdon and Saturday’s home encounter with Boston both falling victim to the weather. They are due to play Cogenhoe at home on Tuesday.
