LUTTERWORTH Athletic FC’s most successful season yet continued with the women’s team completing a memorable night at the County FA headquarters at Holmes Park with a decisive 4-0 victory over close rivals Friar Lane Ladies to lift the Senior Cup.

And the feat completed a magnificent treble of the league title, and county and league cups by the women’s side.

Athletic Ladies went into the cup final as favourites and pushed for a win from the kick-off.

Two goals in the first half put Athletic in good stead for the second period.

They went out all guns blazing and managed to slot home another two goals to lift the trophy.

Even with the recent bad weather postponing league matches, their 4-1 win against Leicester reserves earlier in the week sealed the deal for the league title – with two games in hand.

Athletic Ladies now move up a league and look forward to more success in the future.
