Junior club’s urgent plea for new players
A JUNIOR club facing an uncertain future has led to an urgent appeal for new players.
The desperate plea has come from Kibworth and Smeeton under-14s, who say they need several new players to be in a position to compete next season.
The team has had a successful season at under-13 level, finishing fourth in division two of the Leicestershire League.
Despite this the team, which is made up of players from Kibworth, Great Glen and Fleckney, have lost enough players to leave their future in jeopardy.
A spokesman for the club said: “Most of the lads have played together since the age of six, here and at school.
“It would be a great shame for them not to continue together, especially after such a successful season.”
If enough new players can be recruited, the team for next season will play under the Fleckney Athletic banner and will play matches at Kibworth’s Warwick Road ground
The side would have access to Fleckney’s superb winter training facility and organised coaching from the soccer academy of Leicester City legends Muzzy Izzet and Steve Walsh.
Any boys interested in joining the team and are aged 13 or 14 before August 31, 2013 can contact Andy Fisher on 07800850232 email malthousefurniture@btconnect.com. Or Brian Bonser on 07800695302.
