It’s Danny at the double for Athletic

A DANNY Laywood brace and a Jack Sutherland strike were enough to see Lutterworth Athletic through to the quarter-finals of the Senior Cup.

The tie was switched to Hall Park in Lutterworth because of flooding in Sileby but overnight frost still made playing conditions tricky at the local venue.

Athletic, however, dominated the early stages and in a 10-minutes spell goals from Sutherland and Laywood put the team in charge. Sileby edged the second half and pulled a goal back before Laywood finished clinically to clinch a 3-1 victory.
