Is a Mail reader the spot kick saviour of England?

Any England football fan can remember wincing when the national team lost out in a penalty shoot-out.

But could you do any better?

Medbourne Football Club is hosting the local heat of a penalty-taking competition which could lead all the way to London and a prize of a million pounds.

It’s all part of a national competition to find Britain’s king – or perhaps queen – of the spot-kick.

The event will take place at the Medbourne ground, Hallaton Road, Medbourne, from 1pm on Sunday, September 7.

The competition is open to everyone over the age of 16.
Parental consent is required for under-18s.

Entry costs £5 per person, with proceeds going to the Wings for Life charity, to benefit spinal cord research.

If you score five penalties at Medbourne, you go through to the county finals, and a chance to win £1,000.

The winner of the county contest then goes through to the national final in London, for the chance to win a million.
