Collapsed Tarn left seeing Stars

DESBOROUGH Town’s stunning run of five successive away wins came to an abrupt end when they were beaten 5-3 at Peterborough Northern Star on Saturday.

At half-time Ar Tarn looked comfortable, holding a narrow 2-1 lead thanks to a brace of goals from Michael Byrne.

But after the break the visitors fell away badly and a penalty from Kevin Byrne was their only consolation as resurgent Star took centre stage.

The club’s reserves progressed in the Northants County Junior Cup with a 3-1 win at Potterspury thanks to goals from Chawa Chinkhumba, Derek Stewart and Charlie Hillier.

This Saturday the first team entertain Blackstones while the reserves visit Stewarts and Lloyds’ second string.

On Tuesday Desborough entertain Cogenhoe in the quarter-finals of the County Senior Cup.
