Despair...heads drop after Mitch Griffiths finds the net for visitors Holbeach on Saturday.

Despair...heads drop after Mitch Griffiths finds the net for visitors Holbeach on Saturday.

HIGH-FLYING Holbeach United brought Harborough Town’s highly impressive recent run to a shuddering halt.

Harborough were looking to make it four straight wins and continue their climb from the lower reaches of the United Counties League premier division.

But table-topping Holbeach were having none of it on their visit to Bowdens Park at the weekend as they ran out comfortable 4-1 winners.

In spite of creating several scoring opportunities in the first half, Harborough were not clinical enough in front of goal and went into the break two down.

Added to that was the disadvantage of being reduced to 10 men, after Martin Callum was sent off on 43 minutes for a second yellow card.

Holbeach made the extra man advantage tell in the second period, doubling their lead within 15 minutes.

Town battled back hard, and finally gained consolation in a goal from Alex McMillan on 85 minutes.

Harborough travel to play St Ives Town in the league this Saturday.
