Taylor-made for success?

FURTHER honours look well within Market Harborough’s grasp again this season.

Entertaining Sileby on Saturday, they had to be content with a winning draw but it’s a result that keeps them in second spot in the county league’s top flight.

After Harborough won the toss and chose to bat, openers Rob Taylor (73) and Harveer Gandam (24) put on 48 for the first wicket. And a further 120 runs were put on for the second wicket when Taylor was joined by Kevin Innes (80).

Contributions from Harvey Uppal (22 not out), Simon Renshaw (19) and Nic O’Donovan (14) enabled Harborough to reach 269 for 7 in their 50 overs.

Sileby lost early wickets to the bowling of Innes (2-24), Renshaw (1-34) and Lawrence Perry (1-34) before Liam Kinch (60 not out) and Aleem Mahmood (51) added 59 for the fourth wicket.

The visitors never looked like winning the game, but despite the efforts of skipper Chris Weir (1-34), Rob Taylor (1-27) and Ben Collins (1-51) they held out on 220 for 7 in 50 overs.

Harborough took part in the 20/20 competition on Sunday when despite fine innings from Harvey Uppal (49), Mike Phillips (45) and Chris Gordon (34) in the first match and Rob Collins (22) in the second match, they did not progress to the county final.

This Saturday Harborough visit Loughborough Town and entertain Earl Shilton in the League Cup on Sunday.
